I posted some ATCs to trade at ATCards.com today and this one is my favorite. I named it Telepathy. It's an abstract paper collage. I also finished up some of my other ATCs that I had put away and forgotten about.

I took another vacation day today so that I could go with the Bean to her disability hearing. We ate lunch downtown at a barbeque cafe across the street from the federal building. They have a great location, cause as soon as you step out of the federal building door, you can smell the bbq on the wind. We could not help but go eat there. It was pretty good, but I wish they had had french fries instead of just potato salad or potato chips.

My cat Shirley just came in and begged for "fresh on top". She won't eat unless it's fresh catfood. She also won't eat canned cat food or kitty treats. She's been that way her whole life. My other cat Flea will eat just about anything, especially if it's something someone else is trying to eat.

I saw some interesting things in a National Geographic magazine while waiting for Katy today. Some stuff about hummingbirds and about Saturn. I am going to ngm.com to see about some related items they mentioned. That's a great magazine, one of my favorites. I also like the Smithsonian Magazine. Really neat-o stuff in both.

The powers that be at work have decided that we can't have any fish bowls or aquariums on our desks in our building so I am having to bring all my bettas home. I've brought two home and have four more that I still need to bring home. I can't think of a reason for this new rule. I guess it was just another way of asserting control. I've had the fish there for three years and never a single complaint. Plus it was very stress relieving to be able to watch them and they were never a distraction from my work.

VACATION UPDATE: IT'S ALL ABOUT ME

Monday was day one of my vacation. I wasn't quite sure what to do, so I thought about what some of my favorite activities are and decided to spend a little time each day doing stuff just for me. Something selfish. First I got 15 envelopes full of mailart ready and took them to the mailbox. Then I went to Half-Price Book Store (one of my fave stores) and spend about 2 hours there. I ended up buying 3 books: Sleeping Beauty by Phillip Margolin, All Fall Down by Zachary Alan Fox, and Persuader by Lee Child. Then I drove down the street to Chili's and had some chicken crispers with gravy and honey mustard dip, fries, and black beans while I read three chapters of Sleeping Beauty. After that I went home and fooled around on the computer for awhile, then took a well deserved nap with two of the cats, waking up about time for Jana and Zephyr to return and watched the wonderful Monday night line-up on CBS: How I Met Your Mother, The Class, 2 1/2 Men, The New Adventures of Old Christine, and the can't miss over-acting of Horatio on CSI Miami. After that, I went to bed and read until I couldn't hold my eyes open any longer.

Today, Tuesday, I slept late and then paid bills. I had no stamps left so I went to the post office where the guy in front of me in line was mailing live chickens. Every time he picked up his package to move up in line, the chickens would start clucking. It was very funny. I worry about the chickens being mailed though. I hope they travel well. I hope they are not going to end up as someone's dinner. I was afraid to ask the man. The woman behind me was very amused also and said "Something's run afowl!" Everyone in line laughed.

I got my stamps and mailed my bills then headed straight for Walmart, where I purchased an iPod Nano Silver for myself. I can't believe I finally bought me an iPod. And this close to Christmas, when I really should be thinking about what I'm going to get for the kids and grandkids. I did get Katy some Robitussen and a stuffed dog that barks for being sick. Spent the rest of the day playing with my new iPod. I'm positively giddy about it. It has 2GB space on it and I put two Pink Floyd CDs and 4 audio books on it and still have 1.27GB free space.

Lovin' my time away from work!

Is it a waste of a perfectly good vacation day to sleep the rest of the day?

VACATION!

I can't believe that I have a week vacation left this close to the end of the year. I had planned to go to Arkansas but for the 3rd year in a row life got in the way. Katy was going to go with me and she is very sick. Not only does she not feel like going, but she would surely make everyone in Arkansas sick.

So I will do whatever each day brings me. Today I got mail ready. I have lots of jams and round robins to mail out, as well as some ATCs that I made. I am sending Woven Dog to my ATC buddy, Patty Jones. I think she will like it. Later, I will go to the post office and then have some lunch.

I'm listening to an audio book, The Camel Club by David Baldacci.
